Almonty Industries has been featured on All Access with Andy Garcia, bringing the story of tungsten, its growing strategic importance and Almonty’s global operations to audiences across Public Television.

The feature explores why tungsten is essential to modern life, the challenges facing global supply, and Almonty’s role in developing secure, diversified sources of one of the world’s most important critical minerals.

Tungsten is one of the world’s most strategically important critical minerals — and its global supply remains highly concentrated.

From advanced manufacturing and medical technology to semiconductors and defence applications, tungsten plays an essential role across some of the world’s most important industries.

Yet the global tungsten market remains highly concentrated, creating an increasingly important challenge for manufacturers, governments and supply chains seeking secure sources outside China.

In this feature from All Access with Andy Garcia, Almonty Industries Chairman, President and CEO Lewis Black discusses tungsten’s unique characteristics, the changing global supply environment and Almonty’s strategy for developing and operating significant tungsten assets across multiple jurisdictions.

The programme also provides a closer look at Almonty’s operations and projects, including the long-producing Panasqueira Mine in Portugal, the Gentung Tungsten Project in Montana and the Company’s flagship Sangdong Mine in South Korea.

At Sangdong, the story extends well beyond the development of a mine. The feature explores the history of tungsten mining in the region, its connection with the local community and the people responsible for bringing a modern operation back to life.

Since the programme was filmed, Sangdong has entered a new chapter.

Mining facility inspection certificates issued on 17 September 2026 now authorise commercial operation of the Sangdong processing plant and crushing facilities, completing the final administrative requirement before the production and sale of tungsten concentrate from the operation.

This marks the transition of Sangdong from construction, commissioning and trial operation into commercial production — and represents another significant step in Almonty’s development as a major source of non-China tungsten supply.
